Vaccines are an unavoidable part of any equines health plan. Your horse needs “core” vaccines and may need “non-core” vaccines.

Core Vaccinations, vaccinations that all horses should have.

  • Tetanus

  • Eastern/Western Equine Encephalomyelitis

  • West Nile Virus

  • Rabies

Non-Core Vaccines include:

  • Anthrax, Botulism

  • Equine Herpesvirus (Rhinopneumonitis)

  • Equine Viral Arteritis

  • Equine Influenza

  • Potomac Horse Fever

  • Rotaviral Diarrhea

  • Strangles

The best way to determine whether your horse needs the non-core vaccines is to consult a trusted equine veterinarian. Depending on your horse’s lifestyle and location, your equine veterinarian may recommend other vaccines as well.
